| Bathing twins made easy (or certainly easier) |
|
Bathing twins is a bit of an art so here is how to make it all a little easier. Get everything ready first -You need two of everything - two towels, two baby robes, two baby gros. During the first few months bring two bouncy chairs beside the bathing area. One changing mat and all the bits n bobs that go along with that. So now you can bath one little baby as the other baby is safe, in view and content being entertained by mom, their sibling and of course the splashing! As they got older I found the boys getting inpatient waiting and also getting too big to be secure in their bouncers. Try using an activity centre (Leap frog or mammas and papas have fantastic activity centres) where baby is supported in a little seat but also feels as though they are standing. This enables them to spin around and play with various entertainments on the activity centre including music, flashing lights, different shapes, colours, and tethers- brilliant at all different times of day too!!! Now at the age of one I find that it’s easier having a second adult around at bathing time – to entertain and keep another set of eyes on them. At age one twins are busy babes crawling and climbing, so it’s difficult to get them to sit or wait. It is possible to use their buggy and a favourite book. I have even tried using a walker but be sure they can’t get far away and the area is safe. Another final tip of the day is that I'm finally accepting a little more help than I did when our twins were born. Accept help from family members you trust that offer help - do not try and do everything every day alone. You can still be the perfect parent protecting and cherishing your little ones. Accept that it can be tiring time. It’s a busy and wonderful time and remember everybody deserves a little helping hand once in a while. |
