My husband laughed and said on our last flight that we have become a little entertainment show - the J, Rock, G and N show!
A traveling circus for all your on board entertainment. I must explain that this is not because he is in the public eye and is sometimes recognized, but, because while travelling with twin boys, there is never a dull moment. Ever. Gone are those old days of slipping in quietly to places with eyes down and voices low. Of taking power naps on flights. The only place you can revel in the fact that you are out of touch. The phone cannot ring and nobody can reach you. And gone are the days when I could shop my way through make up and perfumes in duty free, without pudgy little hands reaching out and grabbing me . . . Yes, those days are gone – However, I welcome these new days even more. I love where I am in my life, at this point of time. Both of our boys are at seventeen months old now. They are walking and oozing character. Whie displaying very different and interesting personalities - and neither could be described as quiet! It's like this: "Welcome aboard fellow travellers! We – that's us, Rocco and Jay – perform our very own duo act of inflight entertainment, so please take a seat and pay attention. Unrelax yourself and prepare for the unexpected . . ." However, parents of twins must be warned. You have to keep your little ones occupied for their downtime moments on the flight. Therefore, the best advice we can offer, is that you maybe stock up on the following: Forget travelling light, here are some of the tricks we take on board.
There we were battling through the airport, with the kids cooped up in their buggy to stop them from wandering off. When we arrived at the business lounge for BritishAirways,we were greeted with great assistance and smiles. Then, the flight attendant directed us upstairs to the new childrens lounge/play area. Oh my! I thought that I had died and gone to heaven. Never mind the boys - absolutely fantastic news to my ears hands down. Where, with the buggy at my side and bags to the corner, there, in the lounge/ play area, there was a beautiful cappcinno waiting for me. It was just what I needed.
The lounge area was a Godsend also. The children had space to run and play; safe and cosy. While I could take some time off with a quick coffee. What more in life could I ask for?
The boys were so so excited. It had one wall coated in magnetic paint. With shapes and letters throw on, in lots of colours. This lounge also had comfortable seats and cushions to relax on. It had DVDs to watch and books to read. While the children had games and toy trains to play with, as they watched the planes land and take off. Al in the safety of the lounge. It sure was a nice way to do the family airport experience .
I would like to give a big shout out to the coffee shops and the whole foods stores, where we have our delicious food and coffees. And sit around and comment on how wonderful it would be, if you could have one of these areas set aside, for mommas and pre -pre schoolers. A place where they could meet up with all of their fellow momma friends occasionally. Especially, at least, in the winter time. When we dont frequent the picnics ,parks and playgrounds as much, since the weather does not permit it. Thank heavens for the cafes. They really save our lives. Share this page |
